We invite you to join our team of volunteers!

Volunteers of all ages are a vital part of our accomplishments at the museum. As a volunteer you will learn about local history and heritage while helping keep the museum running smoothly, meet new people and make new friends, gain leadership experience, improve your interpersonal and communication skills, and work somewhere that you are appreicated and valued!  We will gladly provide letters of recommendation and documentation for resumes.

Adult volunteers are always needed. Adult volunteers guide tour groups through the museum, cover the admissions desk and gift shop and provide a variety of assistance at museum sponsored special events.

Student volunteers are also utilized in a variety of different positions on weekends and during school breaks. Students provide gift shop coverage, lead activities in the as well as with our community outreach programs and assist with museum workshops.

To participate in our student volunteer program, participants must:

  • have completed the sixth grade
  • attend a mandatory training session
  • be issued a museum T-shirt. T-shirts must be worn by student volunteers while working at museum and outreach programs

For information about becoming either an Adult or Student Volunteer, please contact the museum at  (606) 329-8888 or Email Us.
